I am devoted to Allihalla bike shorts for under dresses and skirts as needed, and I’ve been wearing Torrid maternity bike shorts to garden in, which are so high in the front that they never fall down no matter how much I am moving and bending, and give my (to be clear, currently not and hopefully never again pregnant) belly a little gentle support without being at all constricting.
I highly recommend!! Great quality and easy customizations - like I always get my bike shorts made 1.5 inches shorter in the leg than the standard pattern.
But do any of them ride up in the thighs? Is the trick having the fabric heavy enough that it stays down? And long enough too? I feel so cheated by shorts!
I think the factors that go into riding up are how tight the shorts are! But it goes both ways because the bike shorts don’t ride up bc they are tight, but the sweatshorts don’t ride up bc they are long and loose! Personally I try to just accept that with most shorts there is going to be some amount of riding up. And if I’m going to be walking a lot I’m
Old Navy is my shorts hero this summer. I got the 4 in High-Waisted SleekTech Shorts last week and they are PERFECT. I have worn them everyday since they arrived and I loooooooove them. Also loving the 3 in Extra High Waist Crinkle Gauze shorts, but that single inch of difference really shifts how exposed I feel so they're less of an all the time short because if I am feeling anything less than 1) hot hot hot (smexy) or 2) hot hot hot (miserable sweaty) I feel a bit self conscious showing my whole thighs to the world.
I am wearing last year’s Old Navy cotton gauze elastic waist shorts with a 5 inch inseam. I have them in green/khaki and white. They are holding up surprisingly really well as I wash them once a week and getting softer which I love. It seems like Old Navy switched to more 3 inch inseams this year when I looked earlier this year. I much prefer the longer length of 5 inches. It makes a big difference!
I love the Old Navy shorts!! I’ve been wearing them so much. I feel like the length is perfect for a tall person who doesn’t want something too short that will chafe but I also get to let my legs breathe!
I am living in one pair of big bud press’s trouser shorts. They are amazing - super high rise, great length.
I have the black and would like another color (I would also like another pair of shorts). But the denim fit isn’t the same - they have a lower rise. And the work shorts also have a lower rise but have much better colors (imo) than the trouser shorts.
Still on the hunt for the perfect denim shorts with a really high rise (I think the trouser are 16 or 16.5) available in 2X!
The so comfy shorts are my holy grail. For how long have I been looking for soccer style shorts that fit over my ass?!?! And they have pockets AND a drawstring?!?? Incredible. Win all around I bought them in both colors (with the stripe)
I got a pair of these at a clothing swap in town and find that they're my favorites now. True to size, just enough stretch to be comfy, and are just at the length that I prefer.
They really are SURPRISINGLY good! I have them in both colors, too!

Oh cool! Allihalla has some really cute styles but I have yet to try them.

Probably wearing bike shorts!!!
I’ve been living in Universal Standard bike shorts and now I feel like I need to try these Beyond Yoga ones!
I have the “next to naked” universal standard ones and I strongly prefer the beyond yoga material!
OK this is very good intel

Oooh I’m interested in the sleektech shorts!
They are GOOD. The pocket zippers are a nice touch visually and keep my phone and wallet safe plus just so comfortable

Oh yes I strongly prefer the 5” inseam these days!

Oh my cilantro, thanks for including the Danny Denim Shorts, and the other recommendations are so fab! Free the thighs!
Do shorts like the last pair not keep you warm? I feel like they'd make me sweat so much because they're stretchy and clinging to the skin
