I am euphoric because I found a great resource in Seattle for altering clothes that is fat friendly, trans friendly, generally all around inclusive. I’ve been looking for sometime now –SODO garment collective 🤗
One of my feet is jacked up (giant bone spur, RIP), so I require excellent support and also am very restricted re: what shoes I can wear without absurd pain. Birkenstocks and OG Dansko clogs both work well because they're supportive but don't touch the back of my heel. But the only other kind of shoes I can manage are very specific sneakers. So in the cold/wet parts of the year (which is MOST OF IT because I live in Seattle) I embrace the Sneakers With Everything life.
Luckily that seems to be the done thing right now so I guess I win. All the most fashionable people at my work are wearing retro sneakers with their business casual.
Love sneakers with long skirts, although I usually do a midi instead of a maxi because I’m just short enough that a true maxi always makes me feel like I’m about to trip - the opposite of the extremely capable way I want to feel pairing my skirt with sneakers. Also I am glad that the era of no-show sock hegemony is over.
Just finished Empire Waist on Amazon Prime video. What a fantastic movie! Wish I could have seen that when I was a teenager. But it certainly doesn't hurt to see it as an adult. Loved it and recommend it so so much. Thanks Corinne for writing about it. I wasn't aware of it and now I'm a major fan.
I’ve been looking for a long puffer vest, but in a fun color. Also in the Seattle area, so spring summer means hanging up your puffer coat (sometimes) and breaking out the puffer vest! So stylin’.
Love this whole list but ofc special shout out to Empire Waist!!

Wow! Thanks for sharing
Omg, THANK YOU!! I’m in South Seattle area - that’s absolute gold.
so much care and enthusiasm in our planning and communications thus far
I'm in the greater Seattle area and I also appreciate this rec! I'm an adequate sewist, but some alterations are HARD.
Thanks - going to watch Empire Waist this afternoon!
