Try the naturium glow getter body wash and bio- lipid restoring lotion. I feel like it leaves skin soft and plump and I’m in a cold climate with sand paper skin.
Oof idk how those of you in the desert handle the dryness. I’m struggling here in the PNW, west of the cascades where it is humid af and yet somehow my skin is still dry!
Don’t even get me started on that stupid boycott. If that dude truly was the originator, that makes total sense then. I’ve had conversations where people say at least it introduces folks to action but I think I disagree because it makes them feel like they did something when they did nothing which is even worse. It funnels potential real action away. I felt mad all day about it. Anyway…
Some of my best dry skin helpers include tallow creams and lanolin. I first started using lanolin on my nipples for help with near constant breastfeeding when my son was born. I quickly realized it works on all areas magnificently. I also try to emulsify creams or oils by adding a little water to it and rubbing around in my hand before applying. Or leaving my face a little wet after washing and then putting cream on. I recall reading about this somewhere long ago and I started doing it.
Corinne! Since moving to the southwest, my skin was parched. I started using Oak Essentials cleanser and moisture balm and my whole face is so moist and supple now. I wanted to tell you about it. Let me know if you want a discount code. I’ve been using the cleanser, moisture balm, face mask, and eye cream for 3 months now. Just started their retinol serum so we’ll see on that.
I'm soooo basic with my skin care. Lubriderm Advanced Therapy for face and body and coconut oil for my private parts. 🤷♀️
I still use the Toll House recipe for chocolate chip cookies, which is reliably good (unless you zone out and leave out the brown sugar like my partner did when he made a batch recently.)
I think I got the coconut oil tip from Dr Jen Gunter! I just buy the big container from Costco. It stays in the kitchen for cooking use, and I scoop out some into a smaller container for the bathroom.
I love this recipe because I love olive oil. https://cookingontheweekends.com/olive-oil-chocolate-chip-cookie-recipe/. As for emollients, I am so disappointed that Caswell-Massey discontinued their almond hand crème. I’ve replaced it with L’Occitane, but it doesn’t smell as good. I love Bio-Oil for moisturizing after my shower, and Co-Pilot from Folk Potions for my face…although I’ll have to find something else when it’s 100 degrees (I live in Georgia).
I use a Cerave moisturizer in the same time of packaging as the vanicream and it is so great to just store under my sink and use whenever I get out of the shower!
My skin (and hair) is also insanely parched. The other thing that helps me is squirting some Neutrogena Rain Bath into the bath and then soaking in it. My skin feels dewy when I get out.

I have a ton of Naturium stuff and love it— my top item is their face wash with niacinimide— starts as a gel and foams with water.
Ooooh I hear about naturium a lot and I like the idea of an in shower moisturizer.
I second Corinne’s cookie recipe— I’ve tried many and it’s my go to. I do love everyday oil for moisturizing, and also Wonder Valley hinoki oil.
Oooh I love everyday oil and wonder valley, too! If you ever want to try something similar I highly recommend Loam!!

I usually use an old Smitten Kitchen recipe for chocolate chip cookies, but in the interest of SCIENCE I’ll give your version a try.
Let me know what you think! I do chill the dough a little after making bc it can be kinda warm.
Have Deb and Kenji done chocolate chip cookies on their podcast yet? That seems ripe for their light-hearted analysis and competition.
I don’t know! It seems that Deb reworked the recipe I use to add more chocolate. She calls it The Consummate Chocolate Chip Cookie.

I feel for you it is quite a shift!!! I’m going to look into that because you do have INCREDIBLE skin!
Soft Services delivery this week, supposedly, at least for me in the northeast! May we be ridiculous in our moisture.

I respect that. And I feel like we need to be talking more about private parts moisturizing!
I forgot the gens! I use Honey Pot (Black woman-owned company based in Atlanta).

Also, I really loved Culturework's post on the Blackout and what to continue to do after last Friday: https://culturework.substack.com/p/babe-wake-up-the-economicblackout
