I am not doing a no buy, but I am also finding myself in a weird place where I am just… not buying anything. I’m feeling called to go through what I have and to get rid of things, so it feels counterproductive to my larger goal to be acquiring new things.
I’m trying to get back into the Substack rhythm after traveling for the holidays, getting ready to turn 39, working up to one rep maxes at the gym, and hosting a visiting friend! I‘m struggling to find the time to take on a large scale closet cleanout project, and not wanting to add to the project by buying more stuff.
But despite unofficially having put clothes-buying on hold for a few weeks, there are a few things that have been calling to me from their far flung shopping carts.
After the paywall:
A great t-shirt, different varieties of vest, a wool fleece vest, and a skincare product that surprised me. Subscribe to find out more!
I love these Old Navy Tees. I think the quality is really good, especially considering the price. Last week
explored what people like to spend and splurge on, and I am not alone in liking cheap tees! I like that this one is 100% cotton and feels really soft. I love this “rose dawn” color—but would I wear it? And do I need it, considering I have like a bunch of similar Old Navy tees. But those are green!I think I want a sweater vest! I’m imagining wearing it over a longer button down shirt, so the shirt sticks out the butttom. I haven’t been able to find precisely what I’m looking for, it seems like there aren’t many good plus size options. But isn’t this one cute? This one, too, despite being decidedly not plus size. Maybe what I want is a small poncho? Still figuring it out. And sweater vest season in Albuquerque is very short.
What about a denim vest???? I love denim shirts, so a denim vest might be just right. On the other hand, I worry that this might be one of those items of clothing that I love on the model but wouldn’t love on myself. The shape of the bottom hem seems kind of unusual. What do you think?

Someone asked me for hot pink beanies for big heads last week and after searching for a while, I thought this and this were the best options. Big heads of Reddit like this brand which does come in different sizes—but $200 for a beanie is a lot. I like this style, too, but no hot pink. If you have big head, hot pink beanie recs, drop them in the comments, please!
I’m in love with the idea of a wool sherpa fleece sweatshirt—Street and Saddle makes a really beautiful looking one. The fabric sounds incredibly luxurious, the sizing is inclusive (they offer up to 5X and custom beyond that), and yet I can’t tell how I feel about the chevron yokes. I really like them on the model, but would I like them on myself? Or would it feel too… chest emphasizing? How I wish I could just try it on!
I was gifted this product and I wasn’t sure how I felt about the name (no one on TikTok seemed to be bothered!) But after using it for a couple months, I like The Fatty enough to look past or maybe even embrace the name. For me it’s all about the application method. I love moisturizing, I hate having slimy hands. So this is great because I can swipe it on my legs and elbows without getting my hands greasy. It’s also fragrance free! I wouldn’t mind having a couple more of these on hand for convenient use. I’m curious if anyone else has feelings about the name!
I’d love to know how you’re shopping (or not?) right now. Has anything caught your eye? Let me know in the comments!

Somehow sent this out 12 hours early! Whoops :/
I looooove that wool Sherpa sweatshirt! I’ve never heard of that brand before, either. I’m doing a low-buy 2025 and I feel like I should keep a list of what I *haven’t* bought. I really want the Pilcro carpenter barrel jeans and Maeve strawberry printed skirt from Anthro and the Area crossbody purse from Orla Kiely (it’s on sale!) and the Story bookcase from DWR (also on sale)….I haven’t bought anything yet this month, either, and I think I may try not to until I can get my head on straight. The only item I have an actual need for, and that would solve a current problem is the bookcase, but I don’t have the money for it anyway. Ah, well.
