Happy 2025!
I had a really nice little break from Substack, but boy am I happy to be back! In my time off, I have continued to reflect a lot on doing a No Buy this year. I have so much respect and admiration for people trying it and I have gobbled up every TikTok and Substack post about it.
In particular, my mind was really expanded by this comment from
:There are many reasons for doing a no buy, (and as you point out, so much flexibility in how you can do it) What I find interesting is how many people don’t assume creativity can be one of them. We’ve been led to believe it should be a punishment for overconsumption, a way to ‘right our wrongs’ by way of restriction, vs a fun experiment and the potential to reconnect with our creativity.
And I loved her post about Common No Buy Misconceptions, too. I think creativity as a guiding force for a buying less is brilliant and definitely something I want to harness this year.
