I am feeling so much pressure to shop perfectly right now. It’s as if the entire future of democracy rests on my consumer decisions. And maybe it does! Or maybe I feel that way because elected politicians seem to think wearing pink is important. Did they get the idea from Mean Girls?
Anyways, I am continuing to to stay away from Amazon and Target, while still feeling a little pessimistic about it. Here are a few things that I did give a second look.
Five Things I Might Buy
I talk a big game about how I like practical clothing, denim, etc, and then I see a black cotton eyelet button down (up to size 32) with matching sheer eyelet pants and all that goes out the window. Don’t worry, they come with a shorts lining!! They’d look great with a colorful shoe!
Universal Standard just launched a bunch of new chambray pieces, and the shorts (up to size 40) look so comfy and perhaps more versatile than eyelet, with a nice elastic waist. Wouldn’t they be so cute with a tank top and a vest??? This dress is also one of those dresses that *almost* convinces me I could be a dress-wearer. Speaking of dresses—this one (up to size 26) also caught my eye—I love the bow detail.
Nettle Studios Just posted a picture of maybe the cutest sweatsuits I have ever seen which are launching Thursday! I love both colors SO much. I need to know if they are fleece or terry!! Plus I have store credit because I did return those pants.
This shirt from The Gap (up to XXL) which does not come in my size but that I am obsessed with nonetheless. I really like the length, it’s 100% cotton, and there are matching pants (also up to XXL).
I have an ever expanding collection of screenshots of shirts I admire that don’t come in my size. It’s mostly short sleeve button downs with some kind of embellishment, some more over the top than others. Think this or this. So I finally decided I would just start adding some of my own embellishment to a shirt I already own.
And now I want more button down shirts! The one I’m doing currently is an old version of the Big Bud Press Pantry Shirt. And I may need more embroidery floss! Which might be urgent since did you hear that Joann’s is closing? Tragic!
I’d love to know what’s on your wishlist or in your cart!

Oh my lord, these pink politicians. ELLE WOODS IS NOT COMING TO SAVE US. (I now also want that sweatsuit.)
The chain stitch embellishment is SO FREAKIN GOOD!
