Last week in New Mexico, we had our first triple digit temperatures. Luckily it was only one day, but I know there are more on the way. When it gets hot, I crank the swamp cooler and try to avoid spending time in the sun. I have a whole system for raising and lowering blinds and maximizing airflow around my house with cracked windows. I go to the pool and I eat popsicles. And as I try to quell my climate anxiety, I’m left wondering: If I have to leave the house, what do I wear to avoid overheating?
This obviously varies from climate to climate. Where I live, it’s hot, dry, and high altitude, so hats are a necessity and sometimes a long sleeve shirt is a nice respite from the sun on your skin. We already talked about shorts. I could definitely use some breezy shirts.
Have you found something that feels good to wear in the heat? Tell me about it!
