As I am sure you all know, we recently celebrated the beloved American holiday of Amazon Prime Day—or is it days? A week? Weeks? And the competing sales have been BIG—Nordstrom, Eileen Fisher, J Crew, Universal Standard. The marketing emails have been coming fast and furiously, the sale roundup posts have been HOT. I have been tempted left and right.
But I’m also staying at my mom’s house in Maine right now, and even though I drove here and therefore don’t have to smash everything back into one suitcase, I don’t really want or need to be transporting any more things back to New Mexico with me than are strictly necessary.
I think an extended stay somewhere can sometimes feel like your whole life is a capsule wardrobe. I’m separated from most of my belongings, so it’s tempting to just buy it when I find myself wanting something. Because in my immediate surroundings, my belongings are actually quite modest! But I DO have a ton of stuff back at my house and most of the things I want to buy I can easily live without for a few more weeks. There is something really relaxing about having only as many clothes as a single load of laundry
I am curious how you all are feeling about the sales, the shopping, about the accumulation of STUFF and belongings?
And in the meantime…
