Here’s my current closet situation: In my bedroom I have one very small 1920s-sized closet with a metro rack shoved inside. Around the corner in the hall, I have another very small 1920s-sized closet where I hang the stuff that really can’t be stored on a shelf: jumpsuits, coats, and dresses. I also have a small 3-drawer dresser where I keep socks, underwear, and bathing suits.
I’m in desperate need of some closet reorganization. During the Unflattering x Burnt Toast Style Challenge, I zeroed in on just how poorly this setup is working for me. It doesn’t really make sense to have clothes spread across two different closets. I daydream about a single, meticulously organized space. Maybe an Elfa system or something cedar lined?? I can dream. Reorganizing my closet infrastructure is something I want to write and think more about… in the fall.
Plus, before I dive into closet systems, I need to get rid of some clothes. I have a lot that I’m not wearing. Dresses! And things I feel emotionally attached to that just don’t feel like “me” anymore. It’s overwhelming!
So today I’m going to walk you through my thought process around decluttering my closet. Plus: A bulleted list of what I do with the clothes I don’t want anymore.
